Saturday Art School Sculpture, Ages 11-14:

Designing for Animals

Students designed and constructed model structures for local wildlife using cardboard boxes and metal brad fasteners. Students then explored papier-mâché by sculpting an animal to inhabit their sculpture.

Big Ideas: What animals live in our communities? What needs do they have, and what might a structure designed for them look like? In what ways could you reuse cardboard and paper at home to make art?
